March 10

Now we're cookin'...

I have no idea how I planned to measure success for this kooky venture, but I feel successful now. The March 7th event was fantastic, even with a game playing in the next room.

We turned a negative into a positive by mocking the sports fans in the next room and jeering when the obnoxious "goal scored" siren went off...only twice, those pansies!

I really like that we have so many regulars now, and new people are actually coming to me with inquiries. Very cool!

Plus, I can invite cute boys and then make everyone leave early...who says poetry ain't sexy??

Can you hear the BUZZ....Happy Premiere!!

WOW!!! Did I ever have a fun night. Sometimes, the crappy thing about organizing an event is that you never get to enjoy it. Well, I dodged that bullet tonight. I had a fantastic time and I think (hope) everyone in attendance did as well!

We had 10!! readers, all of them really fabulous, a lot of variety in styles and themes but it went well together.

Stuart Ian McKay- Haunting and lovely Alberta-inspired works, and a very personal remembrance

Lisa Rose Berreth- Working the crowd with her intimate and sharp dialogue- short and sweet, just like her!

Kirk Ramdath- a longer work on a broken relationship... with TV. A big crowd pleaser!

Danielle Arsenault- The consumate performer...well-crafted recollections of her adventures

Liz McMullen-Shakespeare tribute and some lovely works of love and longing

David Van Belle- Hilarious monologue of a frustrated performer and other poems of interest

Terisa Klassen- Erotica at its most lyrical

Jenn Roberts- A tongue-in-cheek look at publishing and some visually arresting short works

Fred Hollis- Steamy and racy to the extreme..not for family listening!

Eugene Stickland- poetry, playacting and a sneak preview of an upcoming play!

As usual, I'm blown away by the sheer talent that resides in my little world...come share it again on January 3rd!!
